Meet your Board Members

Position: President

After moving to Bellingham in 2010, I served on the Reserve at Cordata Homeowners Association and the Greenways Advisory Committee. Curious to learn more about sustainable land use, I stumbled into Western Washington University’s Urban Planning & Sustainable Development program and discovered my passion for GIS and cartography. I am a mother to two humans, two axolotls (Pancake and Waffles), and one dog (Albie). Today, I work as an Associate Land Use Planner at Jones Engineers, Inc. and serve on the Community Development Advisory Board, as an elected representative on the Meridian School District, Board of Directors, and as the president of the American Planning Association Washington Chapter Northwest (APAWA-NW) Section. As a Cordata Neighborhood resident since 2013, I am excited to be a part of our ongoing community development and participatory planning though the Cordata Neighborhood Association.

Position: Immediate Past President

I moved to Cordata in 2017 from Phoenix after I retired as a high school principal. My special interests include hiking and biking, so I am very protective of our parks, trails and open spaces. I serve on the Greenways Advisory Committee as well. I am proud to live in Bellingham and feel so lucky to have found my home here in Cordata.

Position: Vice President

Born and raised in the PNW, I have been attending Cordata Neighborhood Association meetings since pre-pandemic ages when I was but five-years-old. I attended my first course at Whatcom Community College at six-years-old (shout out to Glen Nesse’s Environmental Ethics!). I may be the youngest member of a neighborhood association on record (elected as Vice President at 13-years old). I am honored to have served in the US Air Force Auxiliary – Civil Air Patrol, Bellingham Squadron with my fellow cadets to assist in community outreach, emergency preparedness, and event planning. I am exploring avenues of meaningful community participation and am excited to be part of the Cordata Neighborhood.

Position: Secretary

Originally from King County, I moved to Bellingham in 2021 to complete my degree in Environmental Studies at WWU. I have lived all over Bellingham but have called the Cordata Neighborhood home for the past year. I work as a Senior Organizer at Community First Whatcom, and as a Civic Empowerment Liaison for the Mount Baker Health Equity Zone. In my free time you will find me absorbed in fantasy & sci-fi audiobooks, crafting, and taking my two cats (Goomba & Pip) on walks around the neighborhood.

Community activism and connection is what drove me to my degree, career, and my position on this board. I believe strong communities are built through connection, participation, and caring for the places we share. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Cordata Neighborhood Association Board and look forward to helping our neighborhood continue to thrive.
